As part of our commitment to providing our clients with high quality craftsmanship, we took advantage of a great opportunity to learn from the innovative team of Hardwood Craftsmen, Stain Artists, and Seal and Finish Scientists at the Bona US Headquarters in Aurora. We would like to extend a special thank you to Bona, who taught us techniques and chemistry in the classroom, and carefully honed methods and procedures on the training center’s Brazilian Cherry practice platform.
Thank you, Bona!
Our entire team participated in the three-day training, which involved classroom study and practical applications in the training center. The notes we took in the classroom ranged from how sand paper and abrasives are made to the effects that temperature and relative humidity can have on a hardwood floor before, during, and after installation. The science behind the work we perform makes us better craftsmen that know which products and procedures to use in the many varying applications, species, and environments in which we work. We inspected the chemical make-up of the Greenguard Certified sealers and finishes that protect and enrich the natural beauty of the hardwood floors we bring to your home. Doing this informs us of the best practices for application of such a critical element to the life and quality of your floors.
We also had the opportunity to try out the latest and greatest equipment and machinery available in today’s market (the Bona tools and machines that you see us use in your homes), and how to properly perform daily and routine maintenance to keep our process efficient and effective, every time we work on a floor. We are proud to recognize a “5280 Floor” when we see the smooth surfaces and exceptional care that our craftsman built into a hardwood floor. For us, proper maintenance and the best available machines means that we can trust our equipment to perform, and stay out of the repair shop; for our clients, this means the best quality floors with the shortest disruption to your daily routines and lifestyle. It’s a win-win!
If you would like to know more about what we do, how we do it, and why, just talk to any of our craftsmen, or visit the Bona Certified Craftsmen page on their website to learn more. Or better yet, just sit back and enjoy artfully crafted, naturally beautiful hardwood floors in your home for many, many years!
